The announcement of the development of these plans was made today during the visit that the President of the APV, Aurelio Martínez, made together with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi España, and the Mayor of Gandía, Diana Morant, to the facilities of the dock

The two ports will thus be able to plan, define and coordinate their investments in infrastructure and boost the economic activity of La Safor and Camp de Morvedre

This morning the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) announced the development of strategic plans for the ports of Gandía and Sagunto during the visit made by the President of the APV, Aurelio Martínez, together with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Arcadi España, and the mayor of Gandía, Diana Morant, to the facilities of the dock to see first-hand the investments that from Valenciaport have been made in this enclave and that have improved both the facilities and the port environment and the processes carried out in the Port.

As reported by the president of the APV “these strategic plans will strengthen the port of Gandia and Sagunto and plan, define and coordinate investments in infrastructure that will boost and energize the economy of the regions of Camp de Morvedre and La Safor”.

Diana Morant, mayor of Gandia, has indicated that this plan “will improve services in all central regions of the Comunitat Valenciana”. For its part, Minister Arcadi Spain has indicated that “from the administrations, we are obliged to give a boost to many actions that were in high demand and now we have to accelerate. This plan will contemplate the singularities of the Port of Gandía so that it is constituted like economic motor and an element of activation of the economic, cultural and tourist activity of this zone”.

2.5 million euros in investments and towards energy self-sufficiency

During the tour, the first one carried out by the Minister of Territorial Policy to the port of Gandía, the southern access has been visited, which had an investment of 2.35 million euros and was inaugurated in January 2020. “This access has allowed us to reduce the traffic of 100 trucks per day through the historic centre, which has resulted in a decrease in the noise suffered by the residents of the city,” said Aurelio Martinez. The southern access has 2 entrance locks and another 2 fully automated exit locks. Likewise, one of the locks has been designed for access by long-distance special transport vehicles. This infrastructure has served to boost the economy of the area and has allowed the Grau district to be freed from all the heavy traffic it used to suffer.

In addition, the works of the Serpis Quay have been visited, where the APV has made an investment of 2.1 million euros to reinforce the floor of the terminal and thus be able to accommodate more modern and more powerful cranes with the capacity to work with loads of up to 40 tons and a range of 33 meters, which will expand the performance and agility of the Port. The work, awarded to Torrescamara, is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021. The two cranes that were in this dock had a capacity of 1.5 tons, which limited the performance of the site

Finally, the three representatives have visited the Tinglado nº 4, located in the upper part of the south access, where the future photovoltaic station of 0.7MW of power we are expanding will be located. The Port Authority of Valencia announced earlier this year that it plans to make Gandia the first port in Europe to be self-sufficient in energy.
