The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has published its new guide “Living the port environmentally”, a new publication with which it wants to publicize all the actions it carries out in the field of protection of the natural environment in the three port areas that manages.

Aware of the social, economic and environmental value of the ports of Sagunto, Valencia and Gandía, the PAV, through this new guide, makes a review of the main elements that define its policy and environmental management. An accredited commitment with the main environmental certifications and standards that both the PAV and the companies located in the ports that manages, have implemented. Some of the certifications collected and detailed in the publication are: ESPO (European Sea Ports Organization) Model, ISO 14001, EMAS, ISO 50001 or ISO 14064, which has made Valenciaport the first port in the world in verifying its carbon footprint.

The new guide also includes the different I+D+I initiatives, in which the PAV participates, at national and European level and which are reflected in projects such as Ecologistyport, Eficont, Climeport, GreenCranes, GreenBerth or SeaTerminals.

This new manual also devotes several chapters to eco-efficiency and sustainability, including measures taken to prevent and treat water and seafloor, control atmospheric and noise pollution or sustainable management of waste that is generated in the enclosures. The guide also includes a comprehensive description of the fauna and flora present in the port areas as well as the measures put in place to preserve it.

The guide also includes port-city integration policies adopted by the Port Authority of Valencia as well as the communication mechanisms put in place by the institution to publicize its initiatives including, for the first time, the presence of the PAV on the internet through channels such as its own website or its presence in social networks.
