ValenciaportPCS facilitates the 230,000 daily messages shared by more than a thousand companies in the port community that operate with this technological platform

Cost and time savings, greater efficiency in transactions, optimisation of resources or automation of processes are some of the competitive advantages of this tool

The “digital brain of the port” facilitates the intelligent and secure exchange of each container movement, involving a large number of public and private agents

Procedures, figures, references… around 230,000 messages are shared simultaneously in a single day by the more than one thousand companies connected to the technological platform of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), ValenciaportPCS. This technology makes it possible to keep an accurate and rigorous record in real time and securely of the more than one million six hundred telematic transactions per week that the activity of ValenciaPort mobilises.

Ships docking at the docks of Valencia, Sagunto or Gandia; containers coming and going; goods being loaded, unloaded, loaded and unloaded. This “digital brain of the port” counts and analyses any action which takes place in the port, as well as the exchanges carried out between the more than one thousand members which make up the Valencian port community using this platform, including shipping agents, forwarding agents, shippers, land carriers, rail operators, terminals or container depots, among others.

Specifically, in one month the PAV managed with ValenciaportPCS a weekly average of more than 10,700 loading and unloading operations of container ships (TEUs) and around 8,400 actions in the case of loading and unloading of vehicles; more than 4,400 container movements from the ports to inland carriers, around 1,900 container operations by train and some 170 stopover authorisations in the three ports (Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia).

Each container movement involves many public and private agents and requires multiple communications between members of the port community, resulting in an infinite amount of data. This neutral and open electronic platform facilitates the intelligent and secure exchange of this complex network of information to improve the competitive position of this community.

Specifically, this data-pumping “IT heart” offers more than 20 transactional and information services, automates port and logistics processes through a single data feed, and connects transport and logistics chains. This tool created by the PAV guarantees greater efficiency in transactions, as well as optimising resources, automating processes and saving time and costs. All this with a minimisation of errors.

Likewise, ValenciaportPCS makes it possible in the current situation to meet the needs of the logistics chain, regardless of the operator, the means of transport, the sea, the port, the company or the country in which the transactions take place. In this way, the PAV’s commitment to digitalisation is a guarantee for the supply of goods to more than half of the Spanish population, since Valenciaport’s hinterland handles the production of more than 55% of Spain’s GDP, which coincides in a geographical area where 40% of Spain’s imports and exports are generated.
