Within the framework of the fair, three presentations will be organized on environmental challenges, the evolution of the Carbon Footprint and the steps towards the circular economy in Valenciaport.

Valencia, October 2, 2019.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) is present at Ecofira, the international fair of environmental solutions that hosts Feria Valencia until tomorrow, October 3. The stand shows the close collaboration that the PAV maintains with the port community to reduce its environmental impact by having the presence of companies such as Mooring, Balearia, Boluda, Tepsa, Trasmediterranea and Aportem.

Within the framework of Ecofira, the PAV has shown the work it is developing in environmental matters in the three port areas it manages (Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia). Also, during its presence at the fair, the Valenciaport delegation seeks to know first-hand the latest developments in the field of circular economy, waste management and mobility. Precisely, in this last field, mobility, the Valenciaport Foundation is developing the SUMPORT project, a project that seeks to improve the integration of the port and the city and the implementation of transport strategies that are more environmentally friendly within the area port.

Also, within the framework of the fair, it is planned to organize a conference, promoted by the Valenciaport Foundation in which three presentations will be given: “Environmental challenges in Valenciaport” by Rafael Company, EU Innovation Manager of the Valenciaport Foundation; “Evolution of the Carbon Footprint in the port of Valencia: new opportunities in its reduction”, taught by Victor Cloquell, professor of engineering projects at the UPV; and “Industrial symbiosis in Valenciaport. A first step towards the Circular Economy” by Miguel Ángel Artacho, professor of engineering projects at the UPV.

Environment

The Port Authority of Valencia has established itself as a European reference in environmental management in the port area. In this sense, it has the most demanding environmental certifications such as the European environmental certificate of PERS ports (Port Environmental Review System), ISO 14001 and the European Certificate of Environmental Management and Audit EMAS III (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), the most prestigious certification in the European field. In addition, the APV also has the ISO 50001 Energy Management certification.

VCT has been marked as a challenge to achieve energy self-sufficiency. To do this, it is making investments in hydrogen, photovoltaic and wind energy and plans to build an electrical substation that will allow the engines of the ships to stop when they are ready to connect to the grid once they have docked at the port.
