València, 20 May 2024.- Nüket Küçükel, Turkish ambassador to Spain, has held a working meeting with Mar Chao, president of the València Port Authority (PAV), with the aim of strengthening commercial ties and institutional relations given the importance of the Valencian docks with Turkish port facilities. The meeting was also attended by Adolfo Porcar, honorary consul of Turkey in València.
Küçükel was interested in the repercussions that the Red Sea crisis is having on the traffics managed by Valenciaport in relation to Turkey. Chao, for his part, detailed the potential of the Valencian enclosures and the advantages that their excellent location in the Mediterranean brings to the Turkish ports. In this sense, they have tackled common strategies to guarantee the commercial flows between the two ends of the Mare Nostrum. Turkey maintains excellent trade relations with Valenciaport. In fact, in the last three years, the Valencian terminals have handled import and export movements with Turkey of more than four million tonnes/year on average. The València, Sagunto and Gandia docks work with around twenty shipping companies that operate 43 regular lines with Turkey, thus connecting the Valencian precincts to 35 Turkish ports.
