During the meeting the situation of the different traffics was analyzed and the sixth position that Sagunto achieved in 2018 in the ranking of the Spanish port system of conventional general cargo was highlighted.

Sagunto, March the 5th 2019.- The Quality Council of the port of Sagunto celebrated a new session on February 28th. During the meeting, which was chaired by the general director of the Port Authority (PAV), Francesc Sánchez, the progress of the different Working Groups coordinated by the Quality Mark was presented.

At the meeting, the situation of the different traffics was analyzed and the statistical data related to the ships and the merchandise using the facilities of the port of Sagunto were presented. In this sense, the sixth position that Sagunto achieved in the ranking of the Spanish port system of conventional general cargo stood out in 2018, reaching a volume of 3,859,816 tons, which is equivalent to a growth of 33.21% over 2017, being located ahead of other enclosures like Tenerife, Bilbao, Santander, Pasajes or Tarragona. Likewise, the positive evolution that shows the traffic of new vehicles without registering and the one of iron and steel products was also highlighted.

Regarding the activity of the different work groups, the situation of the different lines of action in which the GT of new vehicles is working was presented. In this way, we informed about the last meeting held by this group in which we analyzed the results of the ANFAC Report (Spanish Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Trucks) on the Assessment of Maritime-Port Logistics 2017. It should be remembered that, in said report, Sagunto appears as the best valued port, together with Santander and Pasajes, despite being penalized for not having rail access.

With respect to the scores awarded to Sagunto in the ANFAC study, it was proposed to request more detailed information on some of the aspects that are assessed in order to be able to focus more accurately on the improvement measures to be adopted. On the other hand, it also reported on the actions carried out in terms of signaling, lighting, loading / unloading and paving audits, as well as the next planned activities. In this sense, the participation of the WG was communicated in the training sessions aimed at the personnel handling the vehicles that are being designed in order to disclose the importance of good practices that provide an adequate treatment to the vehicle according to the requirements of the manufacturers. In this way, it is intended to highlight the relevance that this type of traffic supposes for the port and the implications that the operation of this merchandise, as it passes through the port terminals, has for the end customers (shipping lines and vehicle manufacturers).

As for the Steel Traffic Trafficking GT, the measures contemplated in the action plan defined in 2018 were focused on improving the agility in the reception and delivery of the merchandise, the safety in handling and the absence of damage during the different processes that occur in the operation of this traffic.

On the other hand, in the Container Traffic work group, progress was highlighted in different projects related to its scope of action, such as the new border inspection center, rail access and the next start-up of the automatic exit from the port area. for containers that have the corresponding customs authorization.

Finally, he realized the most relevant commercial actions that are being developed and put in value the lines of collaboration with the final customers, among which the automotive manufacturers members of ANFAC stand out.
