València, Juny 7th, 2023.- This Sunday, coinciding with the end of the exhibition ‘El Port de València al Segle d’Or. Commercial prosperity and cultural splendour’, the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) invites residents and visitors to embark on a unique tour of the facilities of the Port of Valencia through free visits in a tourist bus specially set up for the occasion. This initiative aims to bring the activities and infrastructures of the main European container port in the Mediterranean closer and explain them to local residents.
The free bus will depart every hour on the hour from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on Sunday 11 June from the Clock Building, an experience open to all those who wish to get to know the Valencian port. There will be two buses in rotation to guarantee a punctual service.
The one-hour tour will be assisted by a Valenciaport technician and will include an audio guide service in Spanish and Valencian, offering an educational and entertaining experience, and providing a detailed insight into the various activities taking place within the port precinct. Participants will have the opportunity to explore different strategic points of the port.
During the tour, key points will be highlighted, such as the container loading and unloading terminals, the storage and logistics areas, the border control post, the bulk areas or the pools used for the cultivation of clòtxina. Visitors will also see the former Unión Naval de Levante facilities, which will become the future public passenger terminal, and the current cruise ship facilities, as well as the areas for the transport of goods and international trade.
In addition, the visitors will see at first hand the modernisation and sustainability projects underway, such as the new lighthouse and the first hydrogen plant installed in a European port, or the inland railway network and the train tracks leading to the terminals. These actions aim to further enhance the efficiency of the port and its commitment to decarbonisation and the fight against climate change.
This event is an excellent opportunity for residents and visitors to Cap i Casal to get a close-up view of the activity and infrastructures of the Port of Valencia, and to understand the importance of international maritime trade and the economic impact that the port community brings to the city and its area of influence. The initiative, promoted by the PAV, is one more action in its city-port strategy to bring the port-logistic activity closer to its closest community.
