Valencia, 29th January 2020.- “El Puerto de Forges” exhibition enters its home stretch. Next Sunday, February 2nd, the exhibition of the graphic humorist, Antonio Fraguas “Forges”, will close its doors in the Clock Building of the port of Valencia. Since its inauguration on December 20th, thousands of people have come to the emblematic building to delve into the creative universe of this renowned graphic humorist. Organized by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), in collaboration with the Quevedo Institute for the Arts of Humor at the University of Alcalá de Henares, the exhibition includes the economic and social transformations experienced in Spain over the last 50 years.

The public that have visited the exhibition is very diverse. Among some groups, there are educational centers such as the Popular University, the University of Valencia, the IES El Grau and the IES Baleares. Likewise, the exhibition has also been very successful among foreign audiences from countries such as Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, France or Australia. In this sense, the role of the guides is essential for them to understand the sense of humor of the Forges’ cartoons.

Located on the main floor of the Clock Building at the port of Valencia, the exhibition is structured in 5 thematic blocks that treat equality between men and women, culture, environment, social aspects and, finally, the sea. “El Puerto de Forges” also houses a more intimate and personal part that includes a tribute to his fellow Valencians. There is no shortage of their emblematic characters Blasillo, Mariano and Concha, or Cosma and Blasa, among others.

The exhibition also has activities aimed at children, with workshops that allow them to color mandalas designed by Forges. The exhibition also has a space entitled “Tens molt a dir!” in which the attending public can express their opinion in the vignettes of the well-known graphic humorist.

The Clock Building as a cultural center

In recent years, the Port Authority of Valencia has tried to recover the role that the Clock Building already had a long time ago as a cultural center to bring citizens closer to this emblematic place of the port and the city. To do this, it has been developing an extensive exhibition work in which all kind of topics related to port activity have been captured with a notable influx of public. In total, more than 25,000 people have come to visit some of the five exhibitions held so far in the Clock Building.
