The director of Safety, Environment and Facilities of the Port Authority of Valencia has presented this tool in a conference organized by the Official Association of Industrial Engineers of the Valencian Community.

Smartport, from which a pilot project is currently being developed, will make it possible to provide a virtual reality of a comprehensive view of the port in real time to speed up decision-making.

València, June 26, 2019.- Federico Torres, Director of Security, Environment and Facilities of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), has participated today in one of the Virtual Breakfasts organized by the Official College of Industrial Engineers of the Community Valenciana (COIICV) celebrated in the Clock Building. The act also has been provided with the presence of the dean of the COIICV, Salvador Puigdengolas; the director of the Engineers’ Box of Valencia, Gonzalo Gregori; and the general director of Arisnova, Jorge Gramage.

During the meeting the Smartport platform was presented, a pilot project of the PAV developed by the Valencian engineering Arisnova, which tries to unify the existing systems of safety  facilities or CCTV to have an integral control of all the business areas of Valenciaport.

Across virtual reality, Smartport offers access to information in real-time of of the port of Valencia. In words of Jorge Gramage, CEO of Arisnova, “Smartport integrates the most excellent information in the daily management and allows an access to she in only one glance of graphic form”.

As has told Federico Torres, “the smartport is a need for Valenciaport since we are in a context in which a very high dynamism exists in the port activity. A port is an infrastructure that we generate services and these must be on-line, agile and of an absolute facility to help in the decision making”. Torres also it has highlighted that “so that a port works well, it is necessary that there is a perfect harmonization in the whole port community that they are those who shape the logistic chain inside the port. For it, to integrate all the information is fundamental so that all this gear assembly works correctly”.

“Valenciaport is currently the fourth port in Europe but we still have many challenges ahead such as the automation of operations, the improvement of energy efficiency and environmental protection, the increase in the efficiency of our processes or new solutions for security, protection and emergency management, among others. For all this, the application of a tool such as Smartport is fundamental because it allows us to know in real time everything that is being developed in the port”, added Federico Torres.

Torres has also indicated that the pilot project developed by Arisnova has responded to the expectations and, therefore, it has been decided to give continuity to expand its developments. “Smartport is a tool that will give us a decision-making capacity very important from the point of view executive, operational and the control center because it offers us an image of a very real what is happening all the time in the port. With this tool we can know details such as status of vessels exactly, location of dangerous goods or environmental data in real time and, in addition, with a nice interface that facilitates its use by the different types of users”

The Director of Security, Environment and facilities of the VCT has concluded his presentation by recalling that “ports are not an end in itself, we want that Valenciaport remains useful to the economy of Valencia and national. And for that reason we must be ever more efficient and competitive. With Smartport we will be aligned with the demands of our users, the ship and the goods”.
