The Port Authority of Valencia will contribute 15 million euros (+ VAT)

The total valuation of the contribution of Adif amounts to more than 29 million euros and includes the transfer of a plot of 38,502 m², the execution of the construction and urbanization works of the terminal and the injection of 8.5 million euros (+ VAT).

The total valuation of the contribution of the Generalitat Valenciana exceeds 19 million euros and includes the assignment of land for the extension of the project.

València, April 16th, 2019.- The Council of Ministers plans to approve tomorrow its participation in the construction project of the Intermodal and Logistics Platform, ‘Fuente de San Luis’. This agreement instrumentalizes the necessary inter-administrative cooperation for the construction of an intermodal platform that aspires to become one of the most important in Spain thanks to its close link with the Mediterranean Corridor and its integration in the Trans-European Transport Network. The reactivation of what will be one of the most important logistics and intermodal areas (rail / road and rail / rail) of the country has been carried out with the collaboration of the Ministry of Development (with contributions from the Port of Valencia and ADIF ), of the Generalitat and the Valencia City Council.

The participation of the Generalitat was approved by the Consell last Friday; and that of the Port Authority of Valencia, at its meeting of the Board of Directors held on February 15 in Gandia.

Specifically, the PAV provides 15 million euros (+ VAT) from the Terrestrial Accessibility Fund of Ports of the state. For its part Adif, – besides being responsible for executing the construction and urbanization of the terminal – will deliver a land of 38,502 m², and will provide an injection of 8.5 million euros (+ VAT). With this, the value of Adif’s total contribution amounts to 29.5 million euros (VAT included).

The participation of ADIF, together with that of the PAV raise the part corresponding to Development to 47.7 million euros; 71.14% of the project.

Regarding to the Generalitat Valenciana, its contribution exceeds 19 million euros and includes the cession of a land with an area of 384,293 m² for the expansion of the facilities; with which the participation of the Valencian Administration in the project will represent 27.08% of the total.

Likewise, the agreement establishes that the City of Valencia and Ports of the state will be responsible for the actions related to promoting the objectives of the agreement, such as monitoring, coordinating studies or monitoring compliance with the deadlines set between others.

Development of the projectThe development of the terminal will be carried out in several phases. The first of them includes some of the functional areas for the provision of the services demanded by the transport and logistics companies. These are: land accesses that guarantee road and rail accessibility from the terminal to the general transport infrastructure networks; vials that enable the integration of services and, where appropriate, connectivity between the new terminal, the existing rail terminal, MERCAVALENCIA and the ZAL of the Port of Valencia; an intermodal module for loading / unloading and storage of UTI (Intermodal Transport Units); an area of logistic development with the possibility of railway accessibility, as well as an integrated service center (vehicle parking, service station, catering or Customs …).

Once the works of phase I of the terminal have been executed, the agreement agrees that Adif maintains the management of the intermodal and logistics terminal so that it can be commercialized and exploited by the private initiative and whose awarding will be carried out through public bidding processes.

Valencia as a logistics node

The Intermodal and Logistics terminal of Valencia ‘Fuente de San Lui’s is considered a key logistics node both for its strategic position at the European Intermodal Network and for its proximity to the port of Valencia, the first port in the Mediterranean in terms of traffic. containers. Its commissioning will give a great boost to the railway; mode of transport for which the Port of Valencia has been betting and investing in recent years; both for its positive environmental effects and for the potential for expansion that it allows for the area of influence of the port in the Spanish geography.
