The president of the Port Authority of Valencia highlights the importance of a project in which all public administrations collaborate

“The ZAL – explains Aurelio Martínez – will border a terminal of the first magnitude connected to the main consumer centers of Spain”

Valencia, April 17th, 2019.- The president of the Port Authority of Valencia, Aurelio Martínez, showed his satisfaction this morning after the approval by the Council of Ministers of the construction project of the Intermodal and Logistics Platform, Fuente de San Luis. The president of the PAV has said that with this signature “20 years have ended since one of the most ambitious initiatives to promote the railroad in the Valencian community”. In the words of the president of Valenciaport “this terminal is essential to connect the city and the region of l’Horta with the main railway axes of Spain. This is great news for Valencia, for the Port and for the Valencian Community; and we can celebrate it together, because it has been possible thanks to the collaboration of all the administrations: the City Council of Valencia, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Ministry of Development, ADIF, Ports of the State and the Port of Valencia”.

In a statement Aurelio Martinez has expressed the impetus that the implementation of this project for the port of Valencia: “This milestone is an impulse that will allow us to continue being leaders in container traffic” and recalled that the port of Valencia it channels 38% of all import / export traffic from Spain.

Also, Aurelio Martínez recalled that the fact that the intermodal station is located a few meters from the port will mean a “boost” and an “impulse” for the development of the ZAL of Valencia: “the intermodal station will border the ZAL so that the logistic companies that are installed will have the port on the one hand and a terminal of the first magnitude to be able to access the large consuming centers of Spain through different channels”. In addition, he wanted to emphasize that this project – in addition to strengthening the ZAL and provide more chances of success – “will promote one of the most depressed areas of Valencia as is the entire axis of Punta de Nazaret”.

Agreement between all administrations

Aurelio Martínez has placed value on the fact that it is one of the few logistic projects in which all administrations have agreed: “There is the Valencia City Council, through MERCAVALENCIA; the Generalitat makes an effort contributing a very considerable surface for the logistic development, it is ADIF and therefore there is the Ministry of Development, and it is Ports of the State, with the Port of Valencia. We must also think that this is an initiative that involves more than 67 million euros of investment, a considerable amount to develop in a relatively short time because it is an “urgent need” for all the Valencian logistics node that should have been made from years ago”.
