The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) agreed at its meeting on 17th February 2017 to approve the specific agreement between the PAV and the Valencia City Council to which both institutions arrived within the Advisory Committee of the Port of Valencia.
The concrete agreement on the ground and with tangible projects the will of the Port of Valencia and the City Council (with the approval of the Infrastructures Ministry) to be involved in a definitive way in the planning of the Special Plan of East Nazareth. The text signed by the mayor of the capital, Joan Ribó and the president of the Port Authority, Aurelio Martínez, provides for the following actions:
1. New access road to the port (road and rail):
The layout of the new access road to the port – also referenced in the port documentation and how to remodel the interior road of the southern Service Area of the Port – will seek the least affection in Nazareth. Thus, the road link to access the docks will be underpass under the main road and railroad, and will not invade west beyond the current fence of the “Benimar” enclosure, with the strict exception of penetration to a Maximum point of 30 meters necessary to develop the agreed route.
The current roundabout will move 105 linear meters in a southerly direction so as to maintain the functionality of the road and railway lines, enabling a better continuity of the Turia Garden to the new River Mouth.
In both cases, the consensus achieved in the terms set out above has determined the definitive completion of the extension of the port areas on which the PAV will formulate, in accordance with the commitments derived from the signing of this Specific Agreement, the corresponding Special Plan.
2. Partial recovery of the amplitude of the old bed of the Turia:
The old channel of the Turia, in the section between Puente de Astilleros and the beginning of the existing canalization works, will extend by the left margin 20 linear meters in a transverse direction in order to facilitate the conditions of formalization of this new sector of Turia Garden.
The project for landscaping this strip will be carried out by the City of Valencia, while the execution will be carried out by the PAV, which will also close the north-east side.
