València, 26 September 2024.- The Board of Directors has approved today – in an ordinary meeting held in the Clock Building – the signing of the agreement between the Port Authority of Valencia and the Valencia City Council. This agreement, approved by the City Council at the ordinary session of its Local Government Board on 20 September, is the result of the work and willingness to dialogue between the two administrations and is aimed at:

– The coordinated management of the competences attributed respectively to the City Council of Valencia and the Port Authority of Valencia, through the creation of an inter-administrative cooperation body that will carry out its functions with respect to certain real estate of their respective ownership, both of a demanial and patrimonial nature, integrating the physical space known as La Marina de València.

– To regulate the composition of this body (parity: equal number of members from the city council and the APV); its operating regime (with the Presidency corresponding to one of the members appointed by the City Council of Valencia); and also its functions.

– Identify the specific property and patrimonial assets – owned by both public administrations – over which the cooperation body will exercise the functions entrusted to it.

‘The joint work and dialogue between the two administrations unblocked a very complex legal situation in La Marina. This joint project will benefit all citizens,’ said Mar Chao, president of the PAV, after the agreement was approved at the meeting.

Not included in this agreement -approved today by the Board of Directors- are the port assets integrated in the Marina of Valencia destined for nautical-sports and nautical-recreational uses, which have been the object of the granting of a concession in the same session of the Board.

Awarding of the concession for the management of the nautical-sports areas in the northern area of the Port of Valencia The management of these assets has been the subject of a public tender under an administrative concession regime, which has been awarded today in the same Council to the companies: Serveis Maritims Port Eivissa, S.L and Ocibar, S.A., after completing all the legal procedures foreseen.

This concessionaire, which will make an investment of 84.8 million euros, will be responsible for the adaptation and operation of the nautical-sports facilities in the northern area of the port of Valencia for a period of 35 years, extendable with up to a maximum of two successive extensions of 8 and 7 years, respectively.

The public domain assets subject to the concession awarded to Serveis Maritims Port Eivissa, S.L and Ocibar, S.A. include a land area of 236,894.00 m2 and a water surface area (after the execution of the works) of 283,056.00 m2.

The proposal of Serveis Maritims Port Eivissa, S.L. and Ocibar, S.A. includes a series of initiatives aimed at offering excellent nautical-sports facilities to users and pleasure boats, as well as the promotion of nautical, sporting and cultural activities for the public and the generation of quality employment. The initiative includes among others:

  • The provision of mooring management services.
  • The supply of fuel to boats and the supply of water, electricity, telephony and data transmission.
  • The development of training and educational activities and support for nautical sports in the field of nautical sports, such as sailing courses in their different variants.
  • The organisation of sporting events and competitions and cultural activities.
  • Boat docking and repair services, especially aimed at providing a comprehensive service to the users of the facilities.
  • Commercial services such as the operation of commercial, leisure and/or catering premises, or offices.

In this sense, the proposal by Serveis Maritims Port Eivissa, S.L. and Ocibar, S.A. includes a reorganisation of the moorings to improve productivity and increase the presence of both large, small and medium-sized vessels. The project includes 370 moorings in the inner dock (from 12 metres to 130 metres in length), 74 moorings in the north dock (from 24 metres to 115 metres in length) and 227 moorings in the south dock (from 6 metres to 40 metres in length).

The dry dock contemplated in the project will have the capacity to handle vessels from 10-15 metres to 60 metres in length. It will also have a dry marina capable of accommodating 228 boats of up to 8 metres in length.

For the land part, facilities and spaces dedicated to nautical training, research, commercial, catering and leisure are envisaged.

The Board of Directors of the APV has awarded the administrative concession for the occupation of public port property at the former Iberdrola base for the location of a technology and innovation business centre to Smart Visual Data S.L. The concession will have a term of 20 years under the terms and subject to the Terms and Conditions that will govern the concession.

The company will invest 2.9 million euros in the refurbishment and operation of the two buildings, known as the former Iberdrola bases, to convert them into a technology and innovation business centre. The project includes the transformation and refurbishment of the buildings, as well as the opening of certain spaces to the public with accessible areas and squares. For Mar Chao, president of the APV, ‘the three agreements of today’s Council regarding the Marina de València are three excellent pieces of news for the Valencians, who will have the best services available in the Marina, in all its facets: leisure, sport, culture…; all of them elements that will energise this innovative and employment-generating hub’.
