More than 13,300 people from 11 different nationalities have landed today at the port of Valencia aboard one of the four cruise lines that docked at the site.

The ships Mein Schiff 2, of Tui; Queen Victoria, by Cunard; and MSC Divina and MSC Fantasía have made a simultaneous port call in the port of Valencia.

Valencia, April the 19th 2018-. – The port of Valencia has received today the simultaneous port call of four cruises. Specifically, the ships Mein Schiff 2, Queen Victoria and MSC Divina and MSC Fantasía have been the ones who have disembarked in the Grao site with more than 13,300 passengers. This figure represents an historical record in the number of simultaneous cruise passengers in Valencia.

The ship Mein Schiff 2, of the TUI shipping company, has disembarked in Valencia with around 2,700 passengers, mostly from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. For its part, the Queen Victoria belongs to the Cunard shipping company and disembarked nearly 2,000 passengers in Valencia from countries such as England, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Also, the port of Valencia has received the port call of two ships of the MSC Cruises Company, the MSC Divina, which uses the site as a base port during the campaign from March to September, and the MSC Fantasía. Both ships transport more than 8,700 passengers from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, England, Switzerland, Belgium, the United States and Brazil.

Coordinated work between institutions 

In order to satisfactorily attend this flow of visitors, a special device has been set up in which the Port Authority of Valencia, Turismo Valencia, the State Security Forces and Bodies, the Government sub-delegation, the València City Council, the Local and port Police, Customs, the cruise terminal itself, as well as tour operators, tour guides and vessel consignees.

In total, the shipping companies have offered 54 excursions throughout the city of Valencia (City of Arts and Sciences, historic center, Fallero Museum and Bioparc, among others) and its surroundings (Albufera, tasting of Valencian wines in Requena, visit to the Lladró Museum, among others) putting in value the great cultural, gastronomic, architectural, leisure and commercial offer. In this sense, it is worth mentioning the cruise offer of the city, jointly developed by the Port Authority of Valencia and Turismo Valencia, it is wide, varied and its also characterized by its security.

On the other hand, to guarantee the fluid connectivity between the port and the city, the shipping companies have enabled 33 shuttle buses, having also increased the number of authorized stops. On the other hand, the service offered by the taxi collective as well as the EMT on the lines that arrive at the port has been reinforced during peak hours. Likewise, the security system has been expanded, in which the State security forces participated in a coordinated way together with the Government’s sub-delegation and the port police itself, which has reinforced its presence with 12 agents.

Specifically, the Local Police of Valencia has distributed 62 agents in 13 points of the city and has installed a van of attention to the citizen in the “plaza de la Virgen” with policemen with a high level of English. The device is planned to serve tourists in those places where it is expected that more concentrations will occur and also for traffic to be fluid in the locations to which the arrival of the 34 shuttle buses that will leave the port to the center is scheduled.

Similarly, Turismo Valencia has expanded the tourist service both in the port itself and in different parts of the historic center. The coordinated and planned work among the groups involved in the tourism activity aims to attend the best possible way, throughout the city, to visitors and project the best image of Valencia, taking advantage of the tourist potential of the city for social and economic development.
