València, October 28th, 2022.- Valenciaport is going to be one of the focal points during the three-day International Business and Foreign Trade Congress, an event that brings together companies and professionals operating in the areas of internationalisation and offering export and import services. The Congress, organised by the Spanish Association of Foreign Trade Professionals (ACOCEX), opens its doors today in Mérida, in an opening ceremony attended by the President of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara; the Mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez; the Executive President of ACOCEX, Raúl Cascales; and the Director General of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Francesc Sánchez.

The general director of the PAV stressed during the opening of the Congress that “Extremadura is a land of opportunities and realities, from Valenciaport we want to be close to these dynamic areas to support the work of its business network and promote the economic activity of our hinterland”.

At this event, Valenciaport will take part in four presentations in which the strategic role of the Valencia port, with relations with a thousand ports in 168 different countries, will be explained for the export/import work of the Spanish business fabric. During the conferences, the APV managers will also deal with the digitalisation process of port services and infrastructures, the commitment to promote loading points or dry ports, or the investments that Valenciaport is making to reinforce intermodality and the use of the railway to boost railway corridors such as Madrid-Centro-Portugal, which connects the Port of Valencia with Extremadura and its area of influence, or the Cantabrian-Mediterranean.

Specifically, the PAV’s Head of Business Intelligence, Manuel García, will be taking part in two presentations on the importance of infrastructures for international development and the future of logistics. In his presentations, the head of Valenciaport will explain the characteristics of the port areas of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia and the sustainable infrastructure projects that the PAV is carrying out to consolidate its position as a hub in the Mediterranean. He will also explain the actions Valenciaport is carrying out to boost the railway and increase the quota of goods entering or leaving by train, initiatives that promote intermodal platforms and railway connections with the main corridors such as the Cantabrian, Mediterranean or Madrid-Centre-Portugal.

For his part, the head of Digital Transformation of the PAV, Víctor Giner, will take part in a round table on digitalisation and internationalisation, where he will highlight tools such as ValenciaportPCS, one of the first technological platforms or Port Community Systems in the world, which continues to be a key element of the port’s competitiveness. He will also explain the data management strategy, digital administration and security measures for secure transactions.
