In 2021, 2,363,622 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and pulses were moved from Valenciaport’s quays, 13.2% more than in 2019

The PAV delegation, led by the head of Commercial and Business Development, Néstor Martínez, has held a series of meetings with national and international companies

València, April 5th, 2022.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has promoted its leadership in connectivity in the Mediterranean and its commitment to cold logistics services for the fruit and vegetable sector at the Fruit Logistic fair in Berlin. The PAV delegation, headed by the Head of Commercial and Business Development and Deputy Director of Valenciaport, Néstor Martínez, and the Head of Commercial and Clients, Cristina Rodríguez, held a series of meetings with national and international companies in the sector to highlight the value of the port connections and facilities for this type of traffic.

In this sense, Valenciaport is the best-connected port in the Mediterranean with links to 1,000 ports in 168 different countries, a key element for the competitiveness of import/export companies in sectors such as the agri-food sector.  In 2021, a total of 2,363,633 tonnes of fruit, vegetables and pulses were moved from the Port of Valencia, 13.2% more than in 2019, the pre-pandemic year. The United States, Canada, Turkey and Algeria were the markets that interacted most with the Valencian precinct. Thirty-six percent of these goods are export/import and 64% are transhipment goods.

The Valencian facilities have 3,000 connections for refrigerated containers as well as refrigerated warehouses for perishable goods. The three main shipping lines in the world operate in the Port of Valencia. The CSP Iberia terminal (COSCO) has 1,500 reefer connections, APM (MAERSK) has 750 while MSC Terminal has some 600 connections. In addition to these infrastructures, there is the Agro Merchants Group warehouse, which has 16,000 m2 devoted exclusively to the logistics of refrigerated products, and the 17,000 m2 border inspection post which, through the Guarantee Mark, guarantees that any container taken to these facilities must be checked in less than 45 minutes.

Valenciaport has participated in a 132 square metre stand that Puertos del Estado has set up in Berlin and in which 12 Port Authorities are present.
