Valenciaport participates in the Seatrade Cruise Med 2018 fair from September the 19th to 20th

During the fair, the results of a study prepared by the Valenciaport Foundation for the Port Authority of Valencia will be presented, in which the main features of the cruise ship profile of the port of Valencia are contributed.

Valencia, September the 18th 2018.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), attends from tomorrow to the Seatrade Cruise Med 2018 fair, the most important European meeting of the cruise sector that is been held this year from September the 19th to the 20th in Lisbon (Portugal). During this edition Valenciaport and Turismo Valencia will present the offer of Valencia as port and destination of cruises under the slogan “Valencia dresses in green”.

During the fair, Mar Chao, commercial and business development director of the PAV and Francesca Antonelli, responsible for marketing, will maintain a broad agenda of meetings with shipping executives from around the world and will participate in the different days on cruises matter.

Valencia cruise offer

The Port Authority has closed a work agenda during the event in order to present to the current and future clients the diversified offers of sustainable excursions that can be made both in the capital of the Turia and in its region. There are many opportunities to visit Valencia and have a good time in a sustainable way and contribute to caring for the local natural environment and traditional local customs.

In particular, during the fair will be displayed the extensive network of bicycle lanes that allow cyclists to explore the historic center, the area of the City of Arts and Sciences as well as the beaches on a safely way on two wheels. The offer also includes plans such as dynamic water activities (flyboard or jetski) or excursion to the Albufera Natural Park, a Mediterranean ecosystem covering 20,000 hectares with virgin beaches of dunes, forests, rice fields and a large lake where you can enjoy boat rides and discover the fauna that lives there. Other possibilities that are already included in the wide cruise offer of the city is the bicycle tour to a tiger nuts plantation so that tourists can get to know the preparation of Valencia’s most famous drink, horchata.

Cruise passenger profile of the Port of Valencia

As a novelty, this year Valenciaport will present in Seatrade Cruise Med 2018 the results of a study prepared by the Valenciaport Foundation for the Port Authority of Valencia in which the main features of the cruise ship profile of the port of Valencia are provided. On a sample of 351,049 passengers who used the port of Valencia during the period January-December 2017, the study indicates that 52.4% are women versus 47.4% of men and puts the average age at 52 years. By country of origin: 19.3% come from Italy; 19% from Germany; 17.9% from the UK; 10.6% come from France and 5.8% come from Spain.

The study also elaborates a profile of the EPL cruise passenger, corresponding to those cruise passengers of the Expedition, Premium and Luxury segments. In this case, the data provided places the average age at 59 years and reflect the predominance of the number of women (50.9%) compared to the one of men (48.4%). By country of origin: 31.8% come from the United States; 24.6% of the United Kingdom; 21.6% from Germany and 5.1% from Canada.
