From October the 16th to the 19th, Valenciaport hosts the Greenport Cruise & Congress, one of the most important European events in the environmental field, focused on the port sector.

The Congress will gather in Valencia those responsible for the environment, logistic and energy port professionals, as well as responsible for sustainability and port CSR, terminal operators, shipping companies and logistics companies. 

Valencia, October the 2nd 2018. – From October the 16th to the 19th, the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), hosts the Greenport Cruise & Congress Valencia 2018, one of the most important European events in environmental matters, focused on the port sector. 

For three days, Valenciaport will bring together those responsible for environment, logistics and energy, as well as professionals specialized in sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ports, terminals, shipping companies and logistics companies. The Congress will offer professionals from the port sector a meeting place in which to share and discuss the latest advances in sustainable development and environmental practices within ports, terminals and throughout the logistics chain.

At its opening, Greenport Cruise & Congress Valencia 2018 will feature the participation of Antonio Revedin, president of the European Cruise and Ferry Network, and with Francesc Sánchez, director of the Port Authority of Valencia. In addition, Aurelio Martínez, president of Valenciaport will be in charge of the opening session of the day of October 17.

Greenport Cruise & Congress Valencia 2018 

In this XIV edition, Greenport Cruise & Congress will focus on topics such as air quality, energy consumption, carbon footprint or relationships between communities. The contents will be presented throughout the three days through interactive presentations, discussion panels, case studies or networking.

The Congress, which in previous editions brought together delegates from more than 30 countries, has become one of the most important environmental events in the port sector in Europe and has been held in previous editions in cities such as Hamburg, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Venice or Amsterdam.

Valenciaport: reference in environmental policy 

The Port Authority of Valencia has established itself as a European benchmark in environmental management in the port area. In this sense, it has the most demanding environmental certifications such as the European environmental certificate of ports PERS (Port Environmental Review System), ISO 14001 and the European Certificate of Environmental Management and Audit EMAS III (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), the most prestigious certification in Europe. The PAV also has the ISO 50001 Energy Management.

In addition, the PAV works on environmental measures that have allowed it to reduce its carbon footprint by 18% in six years. At present, Valenciaport is also working to implement liquefied natural gas as a clean and sustainable fuel in the ships that are docked in the port area.
