During the first two months of the year, Valenciaport has channeled a total of 882,806 TEUs.

Total traffic has increased 11.96% to 12.79 million tons.

More than 22,000 cruise passengers have climbed in the port of Valencia in this period.

València, March 27th, 2019.- Valenciaport handled 882,806 TEU during the first two months of the year, a figure that represents an increase of 13.30% over the same period of 2018. Considering the final basic magnitudes of the Port Authority of Valencia, full containers registered an increase of 11.16%, with a total of 648,763 TEU. In this section, both exports (+ 3.48%) and imports (+ 8.04%) and transit (+ 15.48%) grow. Likewise, the traffic of empty containers is in positive figures with an advance of 19.67% and 234,043 TEU.

Regarding to the strictly monthly data, during the month of February, the three ports managed by the Port Authority of Valencia (Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia) moved 439,772 TEU, 55,237 more containers than during the same month of 2018, which represents an increase of 14.36%. Of these, full containers, with 320,016 TEU, advanced 9.26% due to the good performance of exports (+ 7.88%), imports (+ 8.14%) and transit (+ 10.24%). The empty containers, on the other hand, advance 30.67%, with 119.756 TEU.

Regarding total traffic, Valenciaport closed the month of February with a total movement of 12,790,473 tonnes, 11.96% more than during the first two months of 2018. These data are due to the good performance of general merchandise, both containerized general cargo and conventional general cargo and solid bulk. In terms of foreign trade, exports advance 7.54% to 3.87 million tons, while imports increase 11.12%, with 3.10 million tons; and traffic advances 15.58%, with a movement of 5.82 million tons.

Traffic by goods

During the months of January and February, conventional general cargo registered an increase of 15.68%, with a total movement of 2,640,689 tons. Likewise, containerized general cargo amounts to 12.95% to 9,536,276 tons. Car traffic, for its part, has started the year with negative figures. In total, during the first two months of 2019, the ports of Valencia and Sagunto have handled 110,917 units, 19.61% less.

In the area of bulk, solid bulk advanced 6.84%, with a movement of 366,537 tons, while liquids maintained the downward path with a decline of 30.54% and a total of 246,971 tons.

Passenger traffic

During the months of January and February, Valenciaport received a total of 94,942 passengers at its facilities in the ports of Valencia and Gandia, 12.40% more than in 2018. In particular, regular line traffic drops by 6, 16%, with a total of 72,534 passengers, while cruise traffic increased by 212.39%, with 22,408 passengers.
