The project will allow the development of a customized oceanography and meteorology system for the ports of Gandía, Sagunto and Valencia.

Valencia, April the 26th 2018. – The Port Authority of Valencia has approved the agreement to participate in the Samoa 2 project, which aims to improve the systems of oceanography and meteorology as well as its forecast and measurement of the physical environment. The agreement, which will be signed with Puertos Del Estado, will allow the development of customized oceanography and meteorology systems for the ports.The Samoa 2 project is the continuation of the Samoa project, which has been developed since 2013 with the co-financing of Puertos Del Estado and the different Port Authorities. The project consists of a specific interface for each Port Authority, which integrates a series of systems for forecasting and measuring the physical environment, such as a high-resolution weather forecast system, real-time alerts or pollutant dispersion models, among others, useful for the management of operations in ports (For example: planning of port esplanades, optimized use of moorings and concourses, operations with cranes, pilotage operations, fight against marine pollution, control of water quality , etc…).

 

With the signing of this agreement and the start-up of the project in the Port Authority of Valencia, it is intended to develop a system of oceanography and customized meteorology for the ports of Gandía, Sagunto and Valencia. The estimated period of implementation of the project is of three years.
