Both imports (+ 11.28%) and exports (+ 5.69%) grow, channeled through the enclosure.

Gandia, January 3, 2019. – The port of Gandia has channeled 354,837 tons up to the month of November, which represents a growth of 9.17% over the same period of 2017. This growth is due to the behavior of foreign trade that has registered an increase of 8.89%. Specifically, exports have advanced by 5.69% while imports have risen by 11.28%.

Considering the data of the statistical bulletin of the Port Authority of Valencia, the conventional general cargo has grown by 8.90%, with a total movement of 347,661 tons. By merchandise, the paper and pulp traffic stand out, with a movement of 157,000 tons and an increase of 7.49%; chemical products, with a movement of 91,000 tons and an increase of 21.15%; and wood and cork, with a movement of 68,000 tons and a decline of 13.62%.

Data Port Authority of Valencia

Valenciaport has channeled 4,696,866 TEUs until the penultimate month of the year, a figure that represents a growth of 5.42% over the same period of the previous year. In the accumulated until November, full containers registered an increase of 3.23% due to the good performance of imports that advance 10.14% and traffic that experienced a rise of 3.29%. For its part, exports of full containers maintained the negative trend with a decrease of 1.94% while the traffic of empty containers increased by 13.16%.

In monthly terms, the month of November has been very positive for Valenciaport since its terminals have managed 428,503 TEU, 7.37% more than during the same month of 2017. In November, full containers, with a movement of 316,781 TEUs, advanced 4.57% due to the good behavior of the import, which grows 8.92%; and traffic, which registered an increase of 6.37%. As in the accumulated, exports of full containers remain negative with a decrease of 2.33% in November. On the other hand, empty containers grow 16.20%.

Regarding the total traffic, according to the data of the statistical bulletin, Valenciaport has manipulated 68,813,155 tons until the month of November, a 1.45% more. As usual, all merchandise maintains a positive evolution except for liquid bulks that register negative figures. Likewise, foreign trade of general merchandise increased by 3.01% to a total of 22,217,326 tons. In particular, imports, with 8,886,877 tons, advanced 13.81% due to the good performance of countries such as China (+ 8.85%), Italy (+ 23.79%), Turkey (+ 30.32%)) and the United States (+ 1.20%). On the contrary, exports fell by 3.11% to a total of 13,330,449 tons. However, some countries such as Italy (+ 9.71%) and the United States (+ 16.65%) remain in positive records. Precisely, the accumulated data for the month of November show that, globally, the United States consolidates its position as the second country in commercial exchanges with Valenciaport with a total growth of 26.53%, while China retreats by 9.33%. 

Data by goods

Conventional general cargo closed November with a total traffic of 12,098,414 tons, which is 11.91% more than in 2017. This increase is due to the good results obtained by goods such as iron and steel products which, with 2.37 million tons, increase 12.76%; and automobiles and their parts that, with 1.65 million tons, register an increase of 10.58%. By units, automobile traffic increased by 2.08%, with a total movement of 750,641 vehicles. Ro-ro traffic, meanwhile, has risen 10.86% to a total of 9.61 million tons.

Regarding the containerized general cargo, with 52,364,064 tons, advances 1.46%. In this section, the traffic results stand out as the rest of cargo that, with 2.15 million tons, grows 6.72%; chemical products that, with 1.86 million tons, increase by 6.60%; and machinery, tools and spare parts that, with 1.19 million tons, are up 12.38%. In contrast, manufactured construction materials decreased by 6.19% to a total of 4.86 million tons.

The solid bulk accumulate a total traffic of 2,289,132 tons until the month of November, a figure that represents a growth of 10.17%. This rise is due to the good records of cereals and their flours that, with a movement of 1.23 million tons, amount to 26.42%. For its part, liquid bulk maintained the negative trend with a decrease of 39.23% at the end of November and a total traffic of 1,849,689 tons. By merchandise, the chemical products stand out, with a movement of 333,000 tons and an increase of 0.56%; diesel, with a movement of 311,000 tons and a decrease of 3.92%; and natural gas, with a movement of 217,000 tons and a decline of 83.65%.

Passengers Traffic

Considering the data of the statistical bulletin of the PAV, in the period between January and November, the ports of Valencia and Gandia have used a total of 994,672 passengers. This figure represents a decrease of 0.75%. Specifically, regular lines have been used by 594,446 people, 1.28% less than the previous year. Regarding to cruise traffic, with 183 port calls, a total of 400,226 cruise passengers accumulate, 0.05% more.

Traffic by countries and geographical areas

The five countries with the highest volume of goods channeled through Valenciaport until November were: Spain, with 8.33 million tons and an increase of 4.04%; United States, with 5.91 million tons and an increase of 26.53%; China, with 5.87 million tons and a decrease of 9.33%; Italy, with 5.43 million tons and an advance of 21.03%; and Turkey, with 3.73 million tons and an advance of 15.87%. By geographical areas, the Mediterranean and Black Sea areas stand out, with a total of 19.43 million tons and an increase of 12.84%; and the Far East, with a total of 8.83 million tons and a decrease of 8.38%.
