València, 12 March 2024.- The Port of València once again ’embraces’ its emigrants who return for Fallas. To this end, the Clock Building recovers the essence of its origin as a naval station and becomes a ‘Casal Fallero’ to welcome a group of Valencians who live outside our borders but who return to the Cap i Casal for a few days to relive the Fallas festivities.

The group is made up of fifty Valencians living in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, among other countries, and will visit the exhibition ‘Abraçades en el Port’ tomorrow, Wednesday 13th March at 5.30 pm. This exhibition portrays the departure or arrival at the Port of València of Valencians during three historical moments, one of them, the week of Fallas between 1961 and 1972, a period in which thousands of Valencian emigrants in Latin America travelled to València to enjoy the Fallas in the so-called ‘Barcos Falleros’ (Fallas boats).

This visit is part of a Fallas programme devised by the Directorate General for Transparency and Participation of the Generalitat Valenciana, which has prepared a special tour for these emigrants who are returning to València to experience all the excitement of the Fallas festivities in 2024. After visiting the exhibition, Ester Medán, curator of ‘Abraçades en el Port’; Luis Vidal, head of the Luis Vidal photographic archive; and Arturo Monfort, head of Infrastructure Planning and Port Development at Valenciaport; will talk about curiosities and experiences that occurred on the docks by Valencian emigrants in the past and which are portrayed in the exhibition (which can be followed live on the Port Authority of Valencia’s YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/AutoridadPortuariadeValencia).
