The Sustainable Mobility Commission of the Commercial Port of Valencia has been constituted today, a forum that will promote a new culture of more efficient, safe, equitable and healthy mobility, with a cross-cutting and multidisciplinary approach, for people operating within the port area. This body is made up of APM Terminal Spain, CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal, MSC Terminal Valencia, Valencia Terminal Europa, Valencia Port Employment Centre, Valencian Federation of Transport and Logistics Employers (FVET), the works councils of the maritime port sector and the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV).

The objective of this Commission, of which the most representative companies operating inside the Port with the largest number of workers are members, is to jointly tackle the management of mobility with integrated planning in the territory and in the urban environment. This coordinated strategy will facilitate the establishment of sustainable and safe accessibility actions for all the people who carry out their activity in the Port of València.

At this first meeting, it was agreed to draw up a diagnostic study of workers’ journeys (in itinere mobility) to ascertain the current situation in order to define the strategy and a plan to move towards more sustainable and safer mobility for the people who work in the port area. At this first meeting, Santiago López, head of the APV’s Environment and Ecological Transition Department, was also appointed as mobility manager-coordinator.
