The good performance of steel products (+ 26.28%) drives the increase of conventional general cargo, which grew by 23.98%.

Sagunto, October the 18th 2017. – Car traffic in the port of Sagunto maintains its constant growth rate. At the end of the third quarter of the year, Sagunto port had handled 170,217 vehicles, a figure that represents an increase of 28.08% over the same period of the previous year. However, the total traffic of the enclosure accumulates a decrease of 7.01% to a total of 4,452,543 tonnes to the registrations of containerized general cargo in container and bulk.

Conventional general cargo has increased a 23.98% up to September. In total, during the first nine months of the year, the port of Sagunto has handled 2,092,444 tonnes of this type of goods. This increase is driven by the results of steel products which, with 1.65 million tonnes, grew 26.28%; and automobiles and their parts that, with 300,000 tonnes, increase 24.43%. The general cargo in container, on the other hand, regresses by 10.94% to a total of 370,042 tonnes. If we break down this data by units, the Sagunto enclosure has manipulated a total of 40,013 TEU in the accumulated until the month of September, a 10.70% less.

In the case of liquid bulk, until September, these goods decreased by 17.84%, to a total traffic of 1,425,309 tonnes. This heading includes goods such as natural gas, with 1.23 million tonnes and a decrease of 20.77%; and chemicals, with 143,000 tonnes and an increase of 19.40%.

Likewise, solid bulk decreased by 40.95% to a total of 553,384 tonnes. In this section stand out goods such as natural and artificial fertilizers, with a movement of 320,000 tonnes and an increase of 40.44%; and cement and clinker, with a movement of 78,000 tonnes and a decrease of 70.11%.

Valenciaport’s passenger traffic has reached its best historical record in year-to-year terms last September. Specifically, in the last twelve months, 1,038,255 passengers have used the ports of Valencia and Gandia on their maritime journeys, a figure that represents an increase of 23.45%. If we break down this data, 630,673 people have used regular line services, a figure that represents an increase of 36.67%; and 407,582 passengers landed on the Grao grounds on board a tourist cruise, a 7.38% more.
