- The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan and the Port Authority of Valencia are supporting the first operational agreement for the green corridor between the two ports, which will be launched with MSC’s JADE shipping service
Valencia, May 27, 2026 – Valenciaport and the Port of Ningbo have supported the signing of a groundbreaking agreement between MSC, Senior Auto, the China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, and the Valenciaport Foundation for the practical implementation of the green corridor between the two ports, linked to MSC’s Jade maritime service
The initiative was further reinforced by the participation of the MINECO and Puertos del Estado offices in Shanghai at the Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum held in Ningbo, where the president of the Port Authority also took part in various institutional meetings and high-level roundtables. Valenciaport has served as a witness and driving force behind an alliance that is moving from the phase of intentions to a detailed analysis of the case study, in order to define the objectives to be met by the various actors in the logistics and maritime chain to reduce emissions. This green corridor stems from the firm commitment of all parties to the decarbonization of the logistics chain.
This milestone marks the operational launch of the green corridor and establishes an open and flexible framework to continue incorporating new participants. The China Waterborne Transport Research Institute and the Valenciaport Foundation will contribute their scientific expertise, including carbon footprint calculations and other related tasks.
The consolidation of this project strengthens Valenciaport’s international standing, in line with its strategic plan.
China remains Valenciaport’s main trading partner in terms of both container traffic and total cargo volume. The Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan is also one of the world’s leading maritime logistics hubs and a strategic location along the trade routes between Asia and Europe.
So far this year, trade between Valenciaport and China has exceeded 3.3 million tons, a 23.78% increase compared to the same period in 2025. In TEUs, traffic reached 308,206 units, representing a 25.25% increase.
