- Valenciaport is celebrating Environment Week from 1 to 9 June with a representative sample of the contribution being made by port companies to the achievement of the goal: Valenciaport Zero Emissions
- In addition, on 5 June, the Clock Building will also host the conference ‘Actions linked to zero emissions in port companies’ where the decarbonisation of ships and lorries, the electrification of docks, OPS and the generation of clean energy for self-consumption will be discussed
- In parallel, from 2 to 9 June, educational workshops for children will be organised focusing on the importance of reducing carbon emissions
València, 30 May 2024.- The environment as a transversal axis of port activity. This is the common thread of the activities programmed by the Port Authority of València (PAV) for the celebration of Environment Week.
Under the name ‘Destination 0% Emissions’, from 1 to 9 June, the Clock Building is hosting an exhibition, open and free of charge for all residents and visitors, focusing on the actions that the PAV and the companies of the port community are carrying out to fight against climate change and decarbonisation.
The maritime sector has developed a present and future strategy based on sustainability, and in the case of the València port community, on the common objective of Valenciaport zero emissions. This exhibition describes the actions being carried out by the APV, the Valenciaport Foundation, companies and institutions such as Amarradores Valencia, APM Terminals, Aportem, Baleària, Boluda, Centro Portuario de Empleo, CSP Spain, Docks Logistic and Fertiberia. Also collaborating are Galp, Torres Group, Infoport, InterSagunto Terminals, MSC Terminal Valencia, Noatum, Valencia Terminal Europa, RCN, Seroil, Servamar, Tepsa, Transmed, Vareser and VMG.
In parallel, from 2 to 9 June, educational workshops for children have been organised in the Clock Building focusing on the importance of reducing carbon emissions. Aimed at pupils aged 6 years and upwards, the aim of the workshop will be to stimulate the imagination, raise awareness of the environment and have fun as a team, by assembling a solar-powered vehicle. The workshops will be held next to the exhibition hall between 11.30am and 1.30pm. The groups will be of 25 students and to make reservations please send an email to: [email protected]
Actions linked to Zero Emissions in port companies
In addition, on 5 June, the Clock Building will host the seminar ‘Actions linked to zero emissions in port companies’ where the main strategies for decarbonisation in port areas will be discussed. The seminar – organised by Valenciaport, the Valenciaport Foundation and Ecoport – will be attended by experts from different institutions and companies and is divided into four tables that will analyse the decarbonisation of ships, last mile logistics developed by trucks, the electrification of docks, OPS and the generation of clean energy for self-consumption. The main actions being carried out by the Valenciaport port community with the aim of achieving zero emissions in its activity will also be detailed during this conference. This initiative has a great support among the port community of València, Sagunto and Gandia, which every day is showing its commitment to the environment.
