Valencia, 16 July 2026 – The Ecoport II group held its half-yearly meeting, an event that brought together member companies and organisations to share the key developments and initiatives that the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) is promoting in the areas of energy transition and environmental sustainability.

Ecoport II currently comprises 38 member companies and continues to establish itself as the leading forum for environmental collaboration within the port community. The organisations that make up the group share a commitment to continuous improvement, the exchange of best practice and the development of joint projects that contribute to improving the environmental condition of the ports of Sagunto, Valencia and Gandia.

During the event, the main initiatives currently underway and the upcoming challenges in the areas of decarbonisation, energy efficiency and new fuels were presented.

Sustainable biofuels from rice husks

One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of the Seafairer project, which focuses on the production of sustainable biofuels from rice husks.

The meeting also served to present the new initiatives planned for the second half of 2026, with the aim of continuing to strengthen business participation and further advance Ecoport II.

Priorities for the Second Half of 2026

The meeting concluded with a survey to identify the priorities and interests of the member companies with a view to the group’s forthcoming activities.

Through these half-yearly meetings, Ecoport II facilitates the exchange of information, experiences and best practice amongst the companies and organisations that form part of the port community.
