• The President of the PAV, Joan Calabuig, and the Mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, have held a meeting.
  • Both institutions will continue to convert the Port into an element which will boost the city

The president of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Joan Calabuig has gone this morning to Gandia where he has met with its mayor, José Manuel Prieto in order to address various issues that both administrations have underway with the aim of continuing to turn the Port of Gandia into an element that boosts the city.

Prieto thanked Calabuig for his visit, “Gandia is knowing how to take advantage of the elements that the Port is giving us to turn them into elements that generate wealth, opportunities and expectations that boost trade”. The important thing,” he continued, “is to continue guaranteeing investments that provide jobs, generate wealth and give opportunities. I feel satisfied because everything we had planned is coming to fruition”.

For his part, Joan Calabuig reported that within two or three weeks the PAV expects the drafting of the project for the urbanisation works in the area around the sheds included in the preliminary draft of the winning project of the port ideas competition, “Camins a la mar”, to be put out to tender. On this new development, Calabuig declared that “we are not here to express words, but commitments to Gandia”.

On the other hand, and in relation to the demands of the anglers’ clubs, the president of the PAV emphasised that “the commitments to repair the breakwater and toilets have materialised and now we are in a new situation so that the fishermen have the quality spaces that their activity deserves”.

Finally, and with regard to the project for the development of solar energy in the Port of Gandia, it has been advanced that the work is expected to be completed by the end of September. “Gandia and its port are in line with the general objectives of the European Union of decarbonisation, an aspect which is essential for us”, the head of Valenciaport pointed out.
