València, 26 June 2024.- 260 registered participants and 115 institutions from 41 different countries. These are the main figures of the IAME 2024 Annual Conference whose inauguration was held at the Port Authority of Valencia this morning.
The Conference was inaugurated by Francesc Sánchez, president of the Valenciaport Foundation; Antonio Torregrosa, director of the Valenciaport Foundation; Rosa María Donat, vice-rector of Innovation and Transfer of the University of València; Enrique Belda, director of the Port Authority of València; José Luís Diez, general director of Strategic Projects of GVA; and Elvira Haezendonck, president of IAME.
The opening ceremony was followed by the panel discussion ‘Risks in the Maritime Industry’ – moderated by Aurelio Martinez, scientific director of the IAME 2024 Conference – with the participation of Isabelle Ryckbost, secretary general of ESPO; Ignacio Ballester, deputy general manager of MSC Spain; and Javier Romeu, CEO of TIBA.
The International Association of Maritime Economists, IAME, brings together researchers and international industry leaders for three days in València to discuss the future of the maritime economy in an environment marked by geopolitical conflicts, rapid technological evolution and global climate change.
Under the slogan “Building innovative maritime ecosystems: smart, green and valuable for society”, the aim of this meeting is to promote new collaborations between academia, government and industries to provide answers to global challenges.
These challenges of the maritime industry will be analyzed from today until June 28 at the IAME 2024 Conference, co-organized by the University of València (UV), its Institute of International Economics -through the Chair of Port Economics- and by the Port Authority of València -with an outstanding participation of the ValenciaPort Foundation-.
