Darío Moreno, mayor of Sagunto, points out that “the aim is to have this action in the shortest possible time to gain space for citizens and dignify our industrial past”.

Aurelio Martínez, president of the PAV, has positively assessed “the measures outlined in the meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Port of Sagunto in order to be able to take them on in the new Pantalan”.

Among the proposals put forward are establishing shaded areas, widening the width in some areas and maintaining part of the landscape footprint.

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) will analyse the proposals put forward by representatives of the municipal corporation of Sagunto town council for the project to build the Pantalan. This morning, the Advisory Committee for the Port of Sagunto, which includes both Sagunto City Council and the PAV, among other entities, met in a session attended by representatives of the different municipal political groups, where they were able to transmit their proposals for improving the project.

During the meeting, it was explained that the construction process of the project, once it has been agreed and approved, will be developed in two phases in order to advance in the execution of the project. On the one hand, work will be done on the land area that will connect with the promenade in the northern area with the aim of getting the project underway as quickly as possible. On the other hand, the maritime part, which will require a simplified environmental procedure due to the waste treatment that will be generated, as it is located in non-inland waters.

The mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, indicated that “it has been a very positive and realistic meeting on how to carry out this project, which is so important for Sagunto. The PAV has shown itself to be open to incorporating the positive proposals made by the different political groups and the demands of the industrial heritage associations to maintain the landscape footprint. This is what we are going to work on in the coming months in order to have the definitive project as soon as possible. Firstly, the land phase of the reservoir will be carried out, and secondly, the maritime part will be done. The aim is to have this action in the shortest possible time to gain space for the citizens and dignify our industrial past”.

The project will be developed in collaboration with Sagunto City Council and will combine social, tourist and cultural use, in a framework of maximum security for the public.

The president of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Aurelio Martínez, thanked “the constructive proposals received by the representatives of the municipal corporation, which will be assessed from a technical point of view so that they can be included in the Pantalán project”. Among the measures provided are establishing shaded areas, widening the width in some areas and maintaining part of the landscape footprint. The PAV will also address the recovery of the crane belonging to Arcelor, as proposed by the political representatives of Sagunto town council.

During the meeting, other aspects were also discussed, such as trying to define the Port-City integration project and the exact area in which it will be located. On the other hand, the Port Authority of Valencia announced at the meeting that the concession for the central area of the second dock of the port will be put out to tender at the next board meeting; with this, the concessionary entity will complete the works focused on the activity to be developed there and will be able to offer its services of loading and unloading of goods.
