APORTEM-Puerto Solidario Valencia collaborates with 500 children in a situation of vulnerability of neighborhoods bordering the port of Valencia

Valencia, October the 2nd 2017. – Pilar Blaya, responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility, has participated in the IV RSEncuentro: Socially Responsible Territories, which was held at the Valencia Tourism Center, representing the Port Authority of Valencia. The PAV has participated in a roundtable in which participatory dialogue experiences in the cities of Valencia, Madrid, Vitoria and Alicante have been known.

During the meeting, Blaya made a review of the historical evolution of the port of Valencia that has led to unite the port area with the city and stressed that “at the moment, in the port of Valencia different administrations from different areas converge but, above all, we are aware that the city and the port need each other and maintain good coexistence relationship. For that reason, she has highlighted recent milestones such as the transfer of the old dock to the Town Hall.

Likewise, Blaya explained that “as a corporate citizen, the Port Authority of Valencia is involved very directly with the closest concerns. In 2016, we founded APORTEM-Puerto Solidario Valencia, an association that was born to fulfill the wishes of all the workers of the port community to support the nearest neighborhoods. APORTEM is an association of which 18 organizations of the port community are part; this has allowed us to support the most disadvantaged groups of the neighborhoods near the maritime area.”

In this sense, Blaya has highlighted the collaboration made with five schools in neighborhoods that are provided with breakfast, clothing or school supplies. “We collaborate daily with 500 children who we help to compensate the personal deficiencies that they suffer”. Likewise, he explained that they support the immigrant collective in the search for employment. “The objective of APORTEM-Puerto Solidario Valencia is to collaborate to alleviate poverty, improve the health and well-being of the most disadvantaged in our immediate surroundings and, in this, the entire Valencian port community is actively engaged.”
