• Joan Calabuig, the president of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), has defended before María José Tortosa, the mayoress of Vallada, the willingness of Valenciaport to become a prescriber of Valpark, a project which aims to convert an extensive area of industrial land into a new Valencian logistics node.
  • The potential and viability of this project is based on both the available land and its capacity to concentrate companies that can generate cargo for the Port of Valencia
  • Calabuig has seen first-hand the details of the development plan for this initiative which has the added value of proximity to rail connections, a strategic tool in Valenciaport’s decarbonisation plan

València, 11 July 2023.- Joan Calabuig, president of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), has held a meeting with María José Tortosa, mayoress of Vallada, to learn the details of the development plan of Valpark, an ‘incipient’ logistics node project located in the Valencian municipality and which has the support of Valenciaport.

After the meeting, Calabuig expressed Valenciaport’s desire to become a prescriber of this action – still in very early stages – and to make it known among the companies of the port community. The potential of the project is based on two key factors: a large area of available logistics land, and therefore a great capacity to concentrate companies that can generate cargo for the Port of Valencia; and its proximity to rail connections, a strategic tool in the decarbonisation plan of Valenciaport.

Details of the project

During the meeting, Tortosa explained to Calabuig that the Generalitat Valenciana has undertaken to include in its budget a total of 5 million euros for the purchase of land in the Valpark logistics area, which is currently owned by the city council: in total, some 340,000 square metres of the 620,000 square metres net available. “The Valpark project has the advantage of having 35% of the land developed and the possibility of offering land at a time when demand for logistics land exceeds supply,” said the mayoress.

Tortosa also detailed the results of the reports carried out by the Polytechnic University and the consultancy firm CBRE to determine the economic impact that Valpark would have and which demonstrate the viability and sustainability of the project.
