Valencia, October the 30th 2017. – The port of Valencia meets the conditions and potentialities which the private companies and the government of Iraq are looking for the reconstruction of the country. This was seen on Thursday by businessmen and representatives of the Iraqi administration during their visit to the facilities of Valenciaport.

For several months, people in charge of the economic areas of the government of Iraq have maintained fluid contacts with technicians from the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia and the Generalitat Valenciana. In fact, the visit was propitiated by the meetings that have already been held between departments of the Baghdad and the Turia capital chambers.

The visit to the Port Authority of Valencia was attended by the President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Iraq, Jafaar Rasool Al-Hamadani; the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Saladin, Dhamer Zaidan Mukhlif Al-Ameen; the president of the Chamber of Commerce Diwania, Mahmood Abdulhasan Jabbar Al-laithi; the president of the Karbala Chamber of Commerce, Nabeel Salman Al Anbari; and the president of the Ammara Chamber of Commerce, Alaa Weli Ali Al-Shammary. All of them were accompanied by a large group of businessmen and representatives of the Iraqi embassy in Spain.

Jorge Civera, in PAV representation gave the guests all kinds of indications and details about the options and international projections of Valenciaport, on its connectivity with other 1,000 ports around the world and its capabilities for container trade, bulk and road cargo; aspects of great interest for this country.

Iraq is a country in national reconstruction phase that was seriously damaged by the conflicts that devastated infrastructures and cities during the last years. 

According to the Chamber representatives who visited Valenciaport “not all the country was damaged equally. Some areas have already begun their reconstruction and we need the collaboration of companies and economies and ports like Valencia for our reconstruction. ”

From Valenciaport, several collaboration options have been offered to Iraq, which could be completed soon.
