Labor Union and Port Authority share that the ZAL should be developed and managed as soon as possible; and that the recruitment of unemployed workers and / or at risk of exclusion from the neighborhoods close to the port should be primary.

The Labor union considers the connection between the Mediterranean and Cantabrian corridors to be fundamental to the port; and the improvement of state funding in the Region of Valencia and in the different works and infrastructure projects which are vital to improving the competitiveness of Valenciaport.

The general secretary of CCOO-PV and the president of the PAV share the problem with the temporality of public employment, the need for the consolidation of positions and the urgency for the elimination of the replacement rate.

Valencia, October the 19th 2017. – The Port Authority of Valencia, PAV and Comisiones Obreras of the Valencià Country Labor union, CCOO-PV share the need to develop and manage as soon as possible the Logistics Activities Area (ZAL) of the port of Valencia in order to implement economic and labor conditions that result in models to be followed by the whole port community and that allow the contracting of unemployed and/or workers at risk of exclusion, especially those living in neighborhoods near the port.

These are the terms in which the confederal general secretary of CCOO-PV, Arturo León and the president of PAV, Aurelio Martínez, agreed at the meeting held by the top executives of the two institutions. The two leaders met on Wednesday afternoon at the headquarters of Valenciaport accompanied – in the Labor union part – by the general secretary of FSC, Juan Cruz; the Secretary of Ports, Pedro Suarez and the responsible of the sector of the Sea, Francisco Martínez; and by the general director of the PAV, Francesc Sánchez and the director of services management, Néstor Martínez; in representation of Valenciaport. Labor union and the port expressed their coincidence when it comes to addressing the issues raised with the objective of improving the socio-labor conditions of the entire port maritime sector.

Both parties valued the importance of management and the economic impact that Valenciaport has on the economy at the hour of generating wealth and employment, and considered it essential to advance in job stability to eliminate economic and contractual precariousness. In order to achieve this, CCOO-PV stated the need to “incorporate social, labor, economic and gender equality clauses in the specifications of particular prescriptions and in contracting tenders to provide a guarantee service in the maritime-port area, respecting the current legality “.

The general secretary of CCOO-PV, Arturo León transferred to the president of the PAV the support of his Labor union for the development of the Mediterranean Corridor, and its connection with the Cantabrian Corridor; a fundamental strategic link of first-rate for the future of Valencia port. León remarked “the lack of state financing and the damage in the state budgets in our Autonomous Community, and in the different works and infrastructure projects, which are vital for the development and competitiveness of this Port Authority.”

In the Port Authorities sector, the meeting raised the problem with the temporality of public employment, the need for consolidation and the priority in eliminating the replacement rate. “One issue,” -Arturo León said- is that the employers note with concern about the lack of professional development and the State Ports Agreement and the PAV, which is not approved by the Ministry of Finance, despite presenting the best economic ratios, and that year after year have great benefits. ”

CCOO-PV and the PAV shared the need to create a Mobility Commission, where social and business representatives that are more representative of the Maritime-Port Sector can participate; and also to create the Commission of Marine Welfare to serve and protect all sailors when they arrive at the PAV ports.
