València, 6th September 2022.- The start of the 2022-2023 school year in the Maritime District of Valencia will once again be supported by Aportem – Puerto Solidario Valencia. More than a thousand children from different schools will be able to have the school materials they have requested to start the new school year.

Schools such as CEIP Juan Manuel Montoya, Nuestra Señora de los Desamparados, CEIP Ausias March, CEIP Ballester Fandos, CEIP Nuestra Señora del Carmen or Santiago Apóstol, will once again be supported by Aportem. Staff from these centres, located in the Grao, Cabanyal, Malvarrosa and Nazaret neighbourhoods, have been working with Aportem over the last few weeks to establish the school materials needed by the children.

The aim is for each child to have, on the first day of school, everything they need to start a new school year. Notebooks, pencil cases, erasers, pencils, markers, scissors… A wide range of requests have been sorted and classified, and will soon be distributed by Aportem to each school.

More than a thousand children

In total, more than a thousand children from the Maritime District will benefit from this initiative, which has been repeated in recent years at this time, as one of the recurrent campaigns carried out by Aportem. The Aportem – Puerto Solidario Valencia Action Committee has been working to collect these types of requests for school supplies, with the aim of trying to ensure that the children can start classes in September with this motivating aid.

A new aid campaign is scheduled to be launched after the holiday period, this time focusing on basic foodstuffs, clothing and footwear. To this end, as has been done with school materials, all kinds of information on the needs of schools and institutions in the Maritime area is being collected, including the sizes of each child to get them the new clothes and footwear they need.

Aportem – Puerto Solidario Valencia, is a totally private association, made up of associations, institutions, companies and individuals linked to the port sector and the Maritime District of Valencia. Its activities are mainly focused on the area around the Port of Valencia, with special attention to the care of the environment and children at risk of social exclusion.
