​Valencia port has received this morning the visit of an Angolan delegation headed by Antonio Henriques da Silva, president of the Board of Directors of the Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Exports of this country.

The entourage was also composed of officials of the National Council of Chargers of Angola and representatives of the embassy in Spain.

The delegation, which has been received by the president of Port Authority of Valencia, Aurelio Martínez, is part of the working day “Angola-Valencia: Looking Together for the Future” promoted by the Valencia´s Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting, the president of PAV has transferred the competitive advantages of Valencia port for the transport of goods between Spain and Africa. Subsequently, the Angolan delegation has visited the enclosure to see in firsthand the port operations of Valencia port.

The Angolan representatives have shown great interest in the management of information for the loading and unloading of the Port Authority, as well as the management systems between the port and its logistics areas; in particular the ZAL, because of the proximity to the terminals and the potential for employment generation and to attract investments that will lead to the birth of an enclave of clean activity.

Traffic in Angola

Until October, Valencia port has channeled 275,530 tons of goods with Angola, a figure that represents a growth of 84.46% compared to the end of 2015. In terms of container traffic, Angola has been origin / destination of 16,142 TEU handled by Valencia port during the first ten months of the year, which represents a growth of 70.17% compared to the figures obtained during 2015. As to commodities, the exportation of elaborated construction materials stands out, with more than 96,000 tons until the month of October; and wines, beverages, alcohols and derivatives, which exceed 12,000 tons.
