Five female employees of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) explain their work in the institution and the actions taken to raise awareness of equality between women and men.

A video has been made to explain the origin and birth of 8M, as well as the role played by women in society.

Visibility will be given on Valenciaport’s social networks and in the APV’s facilities through posters.

The action has been coordinated by the Valencia Port Authority’s Equality Commission.

The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) joins in the celebration of International Women’s Day with a campaign that recalls and raises awareness of the rights and the struggle of women to achieve gender equality. The initiative, promoted by the Equality Commission and carried out through the Human Resources and Organisation department, has involved five female workers from different areas of work as representatives of the total female collective of Valenciaport.

Among the actions to be carried out on International Women’s Day, a video has been created with the participation of female workers to explain the birth of this date and the common objectives that the PAV shares with society in the achievement of effective equality between men and women. In the same way, posters with photographs and statements by female staff who have taken part in the campaign have been put up in Valenciaport’s work centres.

Specifically, the female workers who starred in the campaign and the phrases that accompany the initiative are:

– Marta Villalonga, from the President’s Office: “Equality in work-life balance is one of the next challenges to achieve joint family responsibility”.

– Maribel Blasco, from Human Resources and Organisation: “As a woman, I value having the independence to decide about my life and my body”.

– Alicia Crespo, from the Ordinance Support Service: “That gender equality and social equity be a constant in everyone’s life”.

– Sandra Villar, from the Port Police team: “Becoming head of service demonstrates equal opportunities in the PAV”.

– Maribel Moya, nurse at the PAV Clinic: “History reflects the role of women as advocates for the recognition of healthcare as a fundamental right”.

Valenciaport has an Equality Commission, a consultative body for reporting and participation in this area, which is made up of different employees from the trade unions present in the organisation. Staff who join the APV have to undergo training on the equality plan, and questions related to this subject are also included in the public competitive examinations.
