The head of environmental policies of the PAV, Raúl Cascajo, explained at the iENER`23 Congress the pillars of Valenciaport to be an emission neutral port in 2030
València, April 24th, 2023.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) participated in the 4th International Congress on Energy Engineering (iENER’23) organised by the Spanish Association of Energy Engineers (AEE Spain Chapter). The head of environmental policies of Valenciaport, Raúl Cascajo, explained, at a table on solutions in the ports, the pillars of the APV in decarbonisation: renewable energies, use of alternative/clean fuels, energy efficiency or digitalisation.
The Port of Valencia is particularly committed to the 2030 Agenda and has long been a leader in the promotion of sustainable projects to reduce the environmental footprint. During his speech, Cascajo explained the initiatives that the APV is carrying out to achieve its goal of zero emissions by 2030, such as the H2PORTS initiative to establish the use of green hydrogen in its operations, the installation of an electrical substation to connect the ships’ engines to shore power while they are docked at the Port of Valencia or the installation of wind turbines to generate wind energy.
Cascajo mentioned the photovoltaic installations that are being developed in the ports of Valencia and Sagunto with the aim of consuming cleaner and more efficient energy. He also highlighted Valenciaport’s commitment to digitised energy management, self-consumption, electric mobility and storage. However, the speaker emphasised the importance of the involvement of all sectors to reduce emissions.
In addition to the head of environmental policies at Valenciaport, the conference was attended by Antonio Miranda, director of LNG Bunkering at Naturgy; and Santiago Yanes, head of the Innovation and Strategic Projects Division at the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The 4th International Congress on Energy Engineering (iENER’23), which was held for the first time in Valencia on 20 and 21 April, has become a benchmark event at national level for the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the different actors involved in all fields of action related to Energy Engineering. This event has addressed issues such as the integration of renewable energies, near-zero energy consumption buildings, sustainable mobility, smart cities, energy service companies and, in general, the entire broad spectrum of activities and projects that seek to apply the knowledge of energy engineering.
