Rates are applied for service of entry, exit or change of dock, including in all of them berthing or undocking.

This reduction is in addition to the rate updates approved in the last two years with the aim of reducing the costs of the port call to port operators.

Valencia, January the 3rd 2018. – Valenciaport has started the year with the new maximum rates for the pilotage service. They were implemented at the end of November after the consensus reached with this group. The new rates represent an average decrease of 10% although, as they are non-linear fees, depending on the type of vessel, the reductions could reach up to 40%. The most important reduction is applied to large vessels, between 100,000 gross registered tonnes (GT’s) and 175,000 GT’s, which are intended to provide greater competitiveness. The reduction in the maximum rates of this service will be applied in two phases: the first one already implemented since the end of November; and the second, which will come into force at the end of November of this year.

The pilotage service is applied by service of entrance, exit or change of dock, including all docking or undocking. It is mandatory for all ships with a gross tonnage of 500 GT’s or more, so that all commercial vessels operating in the port of Valencia are required to use this service.

These new rates are part of the competitiveness plan initiated by the Port Authority of Valencia and has already allowed different rate updates in the last two years.

Maximum Rate Port Service Pilotage

In the new rates of the pilot port service, applicable in two phases, new ratios are established. In the rates in force since September 17, 2014 there were only three types of vessels: those under 7,500 GT’s, those between 7,501 and 125,000 GT’s and those with more than 125,000 GT’s. In the new maximum rates new categories are created: under 7,500 GT’s (it is maintained), between 7,501 and 30,000 GT’s, between 30,001 and 100,000 GT’s, between 100,001 and 150,000 GT’s, between 150,001 and 175,000 GT’s and more than 175,001 GT’S.
