European experts will discuss the strategies implemented by maritime transport in a challenging environment for the world economy, and in particular for the Mediterranean area

València, October 14th, 2020.- Valenciaport continues its promotional work in the main world events of the sector in order to highlight the strategic capacity of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía as a reference hub in the Mediterranean. On 22nd October, Valenciaport will participate in the digital meeting “Challenges and future opportunities for ports and shipping on the Mediterranean” organised by Transport Events in collaboration with Valenciaport.

The meeting will address the strategies implemented by commercial ports in a challenging environment for the economy and maritime transport in the Mediterranean, characterised by the uncertainty generated by the Covid-19 and the new logistic challenges facing the port community. To this end, the presence of ship owners, shippers and representatives of the main Mediterranean ports will offer a vision of the port activity and the strategic position of Valenciaport. The webinar can be followed free of charge by registering on the organisation’s website.

Specifically, the digital meeting will be attended by Mar Chao, Commercial and Business Development Director of Valenciaport; Otto Zsivkovits, Regional Director South East Europe and Director Sales CEE; Nuria Lacaci, Secretary General of the Spanish Association of Shippers and Users of Goods Transport; Francesco de Candia, Iberian Commercial Manager Grimaldi Group in Spain; Philippe Guillaumet, Secretary General of MEDPorts; and Cedomir Bojanic, President Slovenian Association of Ports Logistics Providers.

This event brings together experts in logistics, trade and technology to analyse the main trends and challenges facing the maritime transport sector. It also allows interaction with operators, ports, terminals, technology providers and other representatives of the port community in an interactive environment to improve the competitiveness and productivity of the sector and to address the new needs arising from an exceptional situation such as the present one, where the focus has been placed on the importance of logistics and trade activity on a global level. In this sense, Valenciaport has played a strategic role in the supply of products during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Covid-19 does not stop promotional activity

In recent years, Valenciaport has increased the use and implementation of technology for holding forums and congresses, and maintaining direct contact with other institutions, ports and interest groups. The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) continues, in spite of the situation generated by the pandemic, with its promotional activity in the main world events of the logistics, port and tourism sector to present the new products and services of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía. The PAV has adapted its promotion and marketing tools to the virtual events that have emerged to adapt to the Covid-19, establishing the platforms to continue with direct attention through online media with clients and specifiers, which is combined with the physical presence at the events that are being held such as the CILF in Shenzen.
