Since 2015, exports to the Asian country from the port of Valencia have grown by 3.96%.

Imports from China through Valenciaport have registered an increase of 14.79% in the last two years.

In the last decade, there has been a concentration of the number of shipping companies operating with China, going from 26 in 2007 to 16 in 2017.

Valencia, May the 15th 2018. – The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) maintains the positive trend in traffics with China, which is currently the first country in commercial relations with Valenciaport, after Spain. In the last two years, total traffic has increased by 21% from 5.78 million tonnes in 2015 to almost 7 million tonnes handled at the end of last year. These data are a sample of the bet that China has made for the Valencian site, and of the Spanish economy with the Asian country.

In terms of foreign trade, exports to the Asian giant have increased by 3.96% in the last two years, with a total of 1.73 million tonnes channeled in 2017. If we break down the data by goods, it is observed that in the in the last two years, the main goods that have been exported to China have been elaborated construction materials, with 1.24 million tonnes; paper and wood pulp, with 739,000 tons; and wines, drinks, alcohols and derivatives, with 476,000 tonnes.

On the other hand, in this period imports have registered an increase of 14.79% since 2015, to a total of 2.46 million tonnes handled in the last year. By goods, it is worth highlighting the manufactured products (textiles, electronics, etc.), with 2.03 million tonnes; machinery, tools and supplies, with 914,000 tonnes; elaborated building materials, with 377,000 tonnes; and the chemical products, with 327,000 tonnes.

If we extend the period of study of the evolution of traffic with China, we obtain that in the last twelve years, Valenciaport has exported 20.2 million tons to the Asian country. These include goods such as elaborated construction materials, which, with around 6 million tonnes, represent 29.63% of the total goods exported to China; paper and wood pulp, which, with 3.52 million tonnes, account for 17.4% of the total; other minerals and metallic residues which, with 2.66 million tonnes, represent 13.14%; and the chemical products that, with 2.16 million tonnes, represent 10.68% of the total exports made through Valenciaport to the Asian giant. In the case of imports, in the last twelve years, Valenciaport has allowed importing around 26 million tons of goods from China. Of these, it is worth mentioning the manufactured products that represent 49.54% of the total with 12.87 million tonnes; machinery, tools and supplies that represent 17.82% with 4.63 million tonnes; and elaborated construction materials, which represent 9.32% with 2.42 million tonnes.
