- Rail continues to gain importance at Valenciaport. So far this year, trains operating with Valenciaport have transported 2,303,316 tonnes, 19.31% more than during the same period last year. In terms of containers, rail traffic reached 172,328 TEUs as of 31 July, representing a growth of 17.97%
València, 24 August 2026 – Valenciaport’s traffic closed July with 459,517 TEUs, compared with 509,685 in July 2025, a figure that was close to the record, representing a 9.84% decrease year-on-year. As has been the case in recent months, import trade continues to grow faster than Spanish export activity. Between January and July, exports recorded a cumulative decline of 1.34%, while imports grew by 10.33%.
In the first seven months of the current year, the volume of containers handled at Valenciaport’s terminals has already reached 3,279,119 units (-1.34%). Over the last twelve months, the total volume of traffic handled remains above 5.6 million containers, specifically 5,618,144, representing growth of 0.16%.
China strengthens its leadership among the main markets
China continues to be Valenciaport’s leading international market, both in terms of containers and tonnes. Between January and July, 546,966 TEUs linked to the Asian country were handled, 18.39% more than during the same period in 2025.
In terms of weight, trade amounted to 5,941,770 tonnes, representing growth of 19.49%.
In terms of container volume, China is followed by the United States, with 193,179 TEUs (-16.22%); Algeria, with 177,776 (-5.27%); and Türkiye, with 112,110 (-23.98%). Italy reached 61,149 TEUs (-19.73%).
Among the markets showing positive growth, Brazil stands out with 83,124 TEUs (+16.49%), followed by Morocco with 76,118 (+9.18%) and Egypt with 73,226 (+11.15%).
In terms of cargo weight, Italy remains the second-largest international market, with 3.66 million tonnes (-13.20%), ahead of the United States, with 3.35 million tonnes (-7.09%). Algeria recorded 2.43 million tonnes (-15.77%), while Türkiye came close to two million tonnes (-24.94%). By contrast, trade with Morocco and Egypt increased by 14.17% and 12.67%, respectively.

Regarding vehicle traffic, 48,405 vehicles were handled last July, representing a 19.09% increase compared with the same month in 2025. Since the beginning of the year, Valenciaport’s terminals have loaded or unloaded 325,335 vehicles, 10.68% more than during the same period of the previous year. On a year-on-year basis, Valenciaport has already handled 555,878 vehicles in this type of cargo (+6.21%). The Statistical Bulletin of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) also highlights significant figures for rail and rail-port traffic. Between January and July, 2,303,316 tonnes were transported by rail, 19.31% more than during the same period last year. In terms of containers, rail traffic reached 172,328 TEUs as of 31 July, representing a 17.97% increase.
