The training ship U-27 “Brasil” of the Brazilian Navy has called at the Port of Valencia as part of the Midshipmen’s Training Trip. The aim of the mission is to complement, with practical experience at sea, the training that the future officers of the Marinha do Brasil have accumulated at the Escola Naval, which is located in Rio de Janeiro, and to promote international relations.

The head of Institutional Relations with the State Security Forces and Bodies and Port Protection of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Sebastián Naranjo, was present at the reception of the training ship, accompanying the captain and commander of the ‘Brasil’ André Ricardo Araújo Silva, the Naval Commander of Valencia and Castellón, Alfredo Cordón, and the honorary consul of Brazil, Vicente Soriano.

This training ship is based on the “Niterói” class frigates, a British design at the request of the Marinha do Brasil, which has a displacement of some 3,700 tons at full load and is 131.1 metres long. The ship has a crew of more than 400 people. The frigate has arrived in Valencia from the port of Cape Verde for a technical stopover and rest.
