València, March 27th, 2023.- Valencia A book made from the remains of boats such as oars or sails, engraved bottles, handmade chocolates or unique and exclusive rings are some of the products that can be seen during these days in the Clock Building of the Port of Valencia. Today it has opened its doors to the artisans of the Valencian Community with an exhibition that highlights the tradition, creativity and craftsmanship of Valencian artisans. The exhibition “Raising the everyday” is another attempt to highlight the value of craftsmanship with the aim of bringing the public of all ages closer to the different trades and techniques of artisan work and to make this activity visible during the European Crafts Days.

This exhibition, organised by the Valencian Association of Craftsmen (ARTEVAL) and the Valencian Community Crafts Centre, is part of the European Crafts Days in which 18 countries are taking part. The exhibition showcases the products made by the different craft guilds with the aim of raising public awareness of the crafts produced in the Valencian Community.

Emiliano García, València City Councillor for Tourism and Internationalisation, and Rosa Seguí, Director General for Trade, Crafts and Consumer Affairs of the Generalitat Valenciana, visited this morning the exhibition which opened its doors today in the emblematic building of the Port of Valencia.

The aim is to bring the public closer to the different crafts and techniques of artisan work.

Valenciaport has collaborated with ARTEVAL and the Centro de Artesanía (an entity created by the Generalitat Valenciana and Valencia City Council) with the loan of the emblematic Clock building so that the artisans of the Valencian Community can show their potential, quality and typical products of the Valencian identity. This is support for the traditions and master craftsmen and women who, through their creations, capture part of the history and culture of the Valencian Community.

In recent years, the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has recovered the Clock Building for the citizens, turning it into a first class cultural centre with numerous free exhibitions, mainly related to the maritime sector, and as a place for holding events and acts of all kinds, such as this collaboration with the European Crafts Days.
