The image of the fleet is updated with the ‘Battenburg’ pattern, which unifies the emergency vehicles according to their colours, maintaining yellow as the common colour and using reflective elements

València, June 2nd, 2021.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has updated the visibility of police vehicles with a new design that maintains yellow as the common colour and opts for reflective elements that improve the luminosity and recognition of the fleet. This is based on the “Battenburg” signage image, a checkerboard pattern in high-visibility colours, in the case of the port police maintaining yellow combined with blue, which was developed in the United Kingdom.

It consists of an alternation of light-absorbing and reflective rectangles or squares, quickly creating a visual impact on who sees the vehicle, and allowing identification as belonging to an emergency service. In this way, the cars are more visible in different lighting conditions up to 500 metres away.

The Port Police is a special administrative body dependent on the Port Authorities that make up the State port system. They have the legal status of Agents of the Port Administration Authority according to the Law on State Ports and the Merchant Navy.

This body has played a fundamental role during the COVID-19 pandemic as guarantors of the normal functioning of port activity and the control of access to the facilities.
