During the exercise, which forms part of the annual programme of simulations of the PAV’s self-protection plans, a person who was passed out was rescued

València, November 8th, 2022.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has carried out a fire drill in Building 2 of the office complex in the Port of Valencia. The aim of this initiative was to test the coordination of the mechanisms established in this action protocol between all the intermediaries involved. The drill is part of the annual programme of exercises and drills of the PAV’s Self-Protection Plans.

Specifically, the exercise consisted of extinguishing a fire on the first floor when smoke was detected coming out of a window. The Plan was set in motion and the emergency was coordinated from the PAV Control Centre. Once the building had been evacuated and the staff had been counted, one worker was missing. The firefighters intervened to rescue the person who had collapsed in the office due to symptoms of intoxication and proceeded to extinguish the fire. After evacuating the victim, controlling the fire and assessing the safety of the facilities, it was determined that the emergency was over and all personnel were able to return to their duties.

The exercise involved the activation of the Port of Valencia Self-Protection Plan and the participation of PAV personnel (port police, industrial safety and occupational risk prevention). An ambulance from the Port Employment Centre and teams from the Valencia City Council fire service were also involved.

In the next few days, an evaluation meeting of the exercise is scheduled to be held with the presence of all the participants to analyse the development and, if necessary, incorporate the conclusions drawn into the procedures of the Plan.
