Valenciaport will once again close the year and welcome 2023 with the best humour by artists from Valencia, Alicante and Castellón.

Those created in the Region will be the stars of the humour exhibition in the Clock Building at the end of the year.

They join Quino, Peridis, Forges and Ortifus in the Port Authority of Valencia’s bid to bid farewell to the year with a smile by paying tribute to the best graphic humour

The Port of Valencia is preparing an exhibition-homage to the graphic humorists of the Valencian Community with an exhibition that will serve to end this year and begin 2023 with the best smile and the acid vision of the artists of the cartoon. With this exhibition, the Clock Building will once again be transformed into a point of reflection, which enlivens the critical spirit and reflects the concerns of the citizens, strengthening the port-city link that the PAV is committed to and positioning itself as one of the points of reference for cultural activity in Valencia.

On this occasion, the exhibition will highlight the work of creators from the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellón, with an exhibition of their works and an overview of their professional careers. Their works will reflect issues of great social relevance and how humour can help to effectively communicate certain social values such as sustainability or social justice, among others. The exhibition will also serve to pay tribute to the graphic humorists of the Valencian Community, showing their vision of current affairs and their work as a reference on the national scene.

The exhibition is organised by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), which is responsible for preparing the design and content, and has the collaboration of the Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humour of the University of Alcalá de Henares. All of Valenciaport’s exhibition activity is free of charge and designed to promote culture among the public.

In recent years, the iconic Clock Building of the Port of Valencia has developed a wide range of exhibitions, mainly on themes related to port activity, which have attracted a large number of visitors. But it has also become a tradition to close the year with the best smile. A commitment by the APV to bring culture closer to residents and tourists who have in the Clock Building a place open to all citizens.

Thus, over the last few years, the “Casal del Port” has paid tribute to four other leading figures of graphic humour in Spain, with exhibitions of Quino, Peridis, Forges and Ortifus, enjoyed by 25,000, 7,000, 12,000 and 10,500 visitors, respectively. Some of these exhibitions have also been transferred to Sagunto and Gandia after passing through Valencia as part of the PAV’s commitment to culture and port activity for the public. And going a step further, Quino’s work is also being exhibited in Alcalá de Henares.
