The Minister of Economy, Janio Rosales and the Minister of Public Finance, Edwin Martínez of the Republic of Guatemala, have visited the facilities of the Port of Valencia where they held a working meeting with the President of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Aurelio Martínez.
The visit is part of the action being carried out by the Guatamaltecan government to promote the country’s commercial activity and its strategic location as a gateway to markets such as the United States, Mexico and Central America. The delegation from the Central American country showed special interest in the actions being carried out by Valenciaport in the areas of rail-port connectivity, sustainability, digitalisation and new infrastructures.
The visit included a tour of the Contradique Sur and the Ampliación Norte, where the new container terminal will be located. The meeting with the president of Valenciaport and the general manager of the PAV, Francesc Sánchez, took place in the Clock Building.
In addition to the two ministers, the Guatemalan delegation was made up of the president of the Bank of Guatemala, Álvaro Gonzales; the director of the National Competitiveness Programme of Guatemala (PRONACOM), Ana Navas; the investment advisor of this institution, Alejandro Moscoso; the superintendent of the Tax Administration (SAT), Marco Livio Díaz; the head of Tax Collection of SAT, José Fernando Soriano; and the commercial advisor of the Embassy of Guatemala in Spain, Carlos Medrano.
Up to November 2022, more than 74,000 tonnes of products have left the Port of Valencia for Guatemala, mainly construction materials and chemical products, while 25,000 tonnes have been received from Guatemala in the form of foodstuffs and other goods.
