València, May the 11th 2020.- The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) today closed the solidarity campaign #AlPieDelCañon, an initiative that was launched after the decree of the State of Alarm which sought to highlight the work of all port professionals who have guaranteed supply of the supply chain in this period. The campaign, which has been carried out through video-selfies, has had an important participation success since more than a hundred videos have been published of people from all areas of the logistics chain, both Valencian and international, who wanted to explain their work and send a message of encouragement and solidarity during the pandemic.

In total, the campaign launched by the PAV has had more than 100,000 views on the different social networks in which it has been present (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin and Youtube). All of the videos are available on Twitter and in a specific YouTube playlist, while a selection has been chosen for the rest of the official social networks of the PAV.

The campaign ended today with the publication of the latest videos. Specifically, the president of the PAV, Aurelio Martínez, wanted to convey in his message that “these weeks that we have been experiencing a major crisis have brought to mind various elements for reflection. First of all we have to remember the people who have been absent, those who have been in the UCIS and the suffering they have had with them and we must have a memory of them. Secondly, we have revalued the professions. Doctors have been champions in the fight against the crisis but there is also research, the people who are at the ATMs attending, the people who are dedicated to cleaning … There is a change in the scale of values of the professions and also a update of values. Solidarity has come to play a fundamental role in these days, the crisis has unfortunately brought about job losses and dramatic situations for many families. Solidarity is vital”.

Likewise, the president of the PAV also wanted to highlight that “the logistics sector has lived up to what was expected of it, has responded by contributing what it knows, bringing goods, arranging it for citizens, etc.” We must sincerely and heartily thank all those who have participated in this campaign who have done it with great affection, from different professions in different languages. We must say to all those who have been at the foot of the canyon that we are proud of them, that they have perfectly done their job, with great affection and with great commitment.” And finally, he wanted to send a message of optimism “it is worth thinking that these lived experiences can help us plan for a better future.”

Fernando Vitoria, director of Diario del Puerto, who has highlighted the role played by the media in this pandemic, has also wanted to participate in this last day of the #AlPieDelCañon campaign. “On a professional level, I would like everyone to become aware of the importance of professional communication, of how important communication is in these times of crisis and the role that journalists and the media are playing.” He also wanted to highlight the importance of the logistics chain “the people who work in the port throughout the port community, each of the links that operate in the logistics chain are essential, as has been demonstrated. The port of Valencia plays a fundamental role in the Valencian Community’s foreign trade, not only for what it generates in employment but also for what it generates in wealth. My wish is that this ends as soon as possible and above all that at the end of the game we can see each other. ”

The manager of Megaport of the PAV, Rafa Trilles has also participated in this last day of the campaign explaining that “my job is to keep the barriers to entry and exit to the port of Valencia in good working order, as an abnormal operation could produce major traffic jams” . Likewise, he stressed that “the port of Valencia plays a very important role in this crisis for the supply of cargo both for department stores and supermarkets and also for the sanitary material so essential at the moment.” Her video ends with a message of hope “I hope that this crisis will make us reconsider and work more in community and with less individualism. We will emerge from all this and strengthen us as a much more stable society. Everything will be fine”.

Finally, from Italy, Patricia Iannelli, Business Developer at Transport Events, explains that “events in the world of logistics have, logically, been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. All our conferences and exhibitions have been put into the second half of the year. Now, we are testing new forms of events completely online with webinars.
