València, 29 January 2024.- Enrique Belda was presented as the new director general of the Port Authority of València (PAV) at the same event that Jorge Herreros assumed the post of secretary general of the PAV. The presentation, organised in the auditorium of the Valenciaport headquarters, consisted of a brief welcome by the president of the PAV, Mar Chao, accompanied by a few words from the new colleagues.

Belda pointed out that: “taking on this responsibility is an exciting challenge. The aim is to bring to the PAV everything I have learnt throughout my 35-year professional career, which I have also seen has had good results,” he said. Under this premise, he added, “I will contribute to accelerating the area of digital transformation, our goal is to be ahead in technological matters and to have perfectly built and operational infrastructures that make us more competitive”. For his part, Herreros has placed himself at the disposal of his colleagues “for whatever you need”, he said.

Mar Chao and a large part of the staff took part in the meeting. During the event, Belda and Herreros thanked all their colleagues for the warm welcome they received during their first days at the Port Authority.

Enrique Belda, Valencian engineer

Enrique Belda, the new director general of the PAV, holds a doctorate in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of València and is a career civil servant. With recognised experience in port management and techniques, he has extensive experience in senior public management in the field of engineering, management of large migration operations through ports, digital transformation and artificial intelligence. His previous position – which he will hold until 31 December 2023 – was Deputy Director General of Information and Communication Systems for Security at the Ministry of the Interior.

Jorge Herreros, law graduate Jorge Herreros, the new secretary general of the PAV, has a degree in law and is a career civil servant. With extensive experience in legal consultancy, his career focuses on the representation and defence in court of the Administration, its organisms, and public companies. He also has extensive forensic experience in all jurisdictional areas. His previous position was Director of the Contentious Services of the Generalitat Valenciana.
